The APC candidate's guide aims to give you the correct focus and direction at the beginning of your training period; to explain the basic philosophies behind the APC (in particular, the competencies); and to guide and steer you through the training period as well as the final assessment interview. What the section is not is a quick fix to be used the night before the final assessment. There is no short cut to a properly structured training period. It is this period that is the key to success - and as far as passing the APC is concerned, taking the correct approach is as close as you will come to a guarantee.

The APC supervisors' and counsellors' guide is intended to help anyone working with an APC candidate to monitor their candidate's progress, and to understand their own responsibilities at each stage. It follows the whole process, from choosing a candidate through to the final assessment and beyond. It includes timelines, checklists, model forms and guidance on how to meet (and record) the assessment requirements.
