Summary
Part L of the Building Regulations (England and Wales) contains requirements relating to the conservation of fuel and power. It is the primary vehicle used by the government to meet its commitment to carbon emission reductions under the Kyoto protocol. This section includes details of the new Building Regulations and Approved Documents, and also considers the background to why the standards have been revised, the EU Energy Performance Directive, the England and Wales response and brief details relating to Scotland and Northern Ireland.
